In response to increased activity/momentum towards the establishment of MPAs in EU waters the Cornwall Fisheries Producers Organisation (CFPO) will be undertaking a baseline study of commercial fishing activity within 0 -12 mile zone, by the Cornish Fishing Industry (CFPO members and non members) based in Cornwall.
This is a pro-active initiative
designed to protect the long term interests of
the Cornish fishing industry. All information provided
by individuals will be treated as confidential.
The objective of the study will be to provide a clear
picture of fishing activity and stakeholder preference
which can be used by the CFPO to advise decision
makers in the planning of potential MPA sites and
networks. A small team will soon be carrying out
initial visits to a port near you to explain the project
further and to answer any questions or address any
concerns you may have
You will soon receive notification of when and where
these visits will take place. We need to know about
all fishing activity regardless of gear type. Please
help us to reach all fishermen by passing this information
on to all commercial fishermen that you
