Fish REG has gathered momentum since its inception at the beginning of this year, with £35,000 of funding approved to date for 17 groups registered on the project, which provides support for groups of fisheries-related businesses wishing to progress and develop their companies.
Groups who have received support
to date include the Port of Truro Oyster Fishery
Management Group, who received funding for
the design of leaflets to market their produce
and a pull-up display to take to events and exhibitions.
They also received a grant towards the
cost of attending the Slow Food conference in
Turin, Italy. A group of 12 fishermen from Newlyn
also recently used their funding towards
completing the LRC training course.
It is not yet
known whether funding will continue to be available
after March 2007, so any groups interested
in applying should contact Fish REG Project Officer,
Evonne Amblin, on 0845 600 9966 ASAP. |
