Seafish offers bursaries for Seafood Summit
Seafish is offering ten bursaries of up to £500 to fishermen wishing to attend the Seafood Choices Alliance Seafood Summit in San Diego, California, next February.
Assembly seeks control of new Welsh fisheries zone
The Assembly Government wants create a Welsh Fisheries Zone over which it would have absolute control. It is consulting on plans to take over responsibility for in-shore fishing practices from the Environment Agency and two Sea Fisheries Committees (SFC).
Thousands of Spanish truckers strike over high fuel prices
Tens of thousands of truckers went on strike Monday over soaring fuel costs, stalling their big rigs in "snail protests" that snarled traffic around Madrid and Barcelona. More than 90,000 drivers have been summoned to take part in the strike -- one of a number of Europe-wide protests against rising fuel prices.

Young's nabbed a ‘Big Tick' award in the United Kingdom's annual Business in the Community Award for its ‘Fish for Life' program. Young's, owned by private-equity firm Foodvest, was honored for its positive impact on the community, environment, marketplace and workpace.

Tesco's sales rise 14 percent despite economic sluggishness
Tesco PLC, Britain's largest grocer reported group sales rose 13.7 percent in the first quarter, but said Tuesday that the rate of sales growth in non-food categories for its core market had slowed.
