The Food Standards Agency has been reviewing its advice on XyRex® brand products and has concluded that at the present time only potable water may be used to wash fish.

The one that got away

A resolution calling on the Government to urge the EU to ban a destructive fishing method known as bottom trawling sharply divided opinion at the Women's Institute AGM, resulting in its failure to carry. Seafish presented the winning argument against the resolution.

UK fish and seafood exports up 5.2%

UK total exports of fish and seafood amounted to £1,003.6m in 2007, increasing by 5.2% compared to the previous year, according to the latest figures from market development network Food from Britain.

EU agree key illegal fishing strategy

European Union fisheries ministers today reached agreement in principle on the European Commission's proposal for a Council Regulation to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
