The UK's cross-industry seafood body Seafish is offering ten travel and accommodation bursaries of up to £500 to
fishermen wanting to attend the Seafood Choices Alliance Seafood Summit in February 2009, held in San Diego, USA.

Cod sales diving in UK
Even as consumers in the UK warm to new species of whitefish such as tilapia sales of the standard bearer, cod, have
fallen 12.3% in volume terms since last year, according to Seafish.

EU fuel aid funding gets green light, though impact unclear

Seafish warns of costly import restrictions
Imports of seafood into the UK are strictly regulated and monitored to ensure that fishery products reaching European
borders are of the standard expected by European consumers. As part of this process measures can be imposed by the
European Commission, ranging in severity from increased checks to an outright ban, which UK seafood businesses need
to be aware of, warns Seafish.
