Trereife House Fine Food Art & Craft Fair Print E-mail
Thursday, 24 July 2008
We are putting Trereife House, nr Newlyn, back on the map with a weekend of food, art and craft stalls, music and entertainment. Stall holders will be coming from as far a field as Launceston, Lostwithiel, Padstow, and St Austell with the vast majority on our own doorstep including Newlyn, St Just, Penzance, Hayle, Camborne, Redruth, and Helston. The Fine Food Art & Craft Fair at Trereife House on Sat 2 & Sun 3 August promises to be a treasure trove of Cornish made art and food. The Art & Craft Marquee area on the tennis lawn will house up to 40 stalls selling all kinds of Cornish made art and craft, from artists own original canvases, local photography, hand made jewellery, children's clothes, recycled and driftwood craft items, hand made hats and hair accessories, slate art, ceramics and stoneware, soaps and ointments, silks, stained glass and glassware, textile and leather bags and goods, to exotic plants, organically grown herbs and other garden plants, fresh cut Cornish flowers and hand carved tree spirits in locally sourced wood, ...and that is just a selection.

If you need a present for someone special, a treat for yourself or just like to browse amongst the delights on offer you shouldn't miss this fabulous opportunity to spend some time at Trereife House, our own local treasure tucked away in the fields above Penzance and Newlyn.

To compliment this there will also be some fantastic food on offer, starting with a selection of olives and nuts, home made hot and cold soups and bread, with a main course of Cornish made bangers, or bbq fish cooked by the Gourmet BBQ, who will also be doing cookery demonstrations throughout the weekend, specialising in organic, free range, grilled, smoked and vegetarian dishes and using fossil fuels and bio degradable cutlery and crockery.
Alternatively for a meat free treat there will be freshly made homity pies, felafel, hot quesadillos, or crepes, these can be eaten sweet or savoury, try the mouth-watering chocolate, banana and cream. For other desserts or guilty pleasures for a sweet tooth try the locally made Cornish ice cream in an array of exotic flavours, hand made chocolate truffles, or a selection of bakes and cakes. There will be tea and coffee, home made cakes, sandwiches and more in Christine's Country Kitchen, or for those with a taste for beer we can offer a real ale stall, a Cornish bottled beer stall and cider made from Cornish apples, or the simple goodness of locally produced apple or grape juice.

To keep you entertained while you wander there will be a selection of musicians and children's entertainment including an old fashioned carousel, and if historic houses are your thing why not take a tour of the house with Tim himself. On the way in you can take a ride on the pony and trap, or alternatively visit the small animal park, a must for the children. Entry £2 adult £5 family, 10 - 4pm. Tel 01736 362750 for more details.
